DESCRIPTION:Nickersons Continue Archaeological Dig on Chatham History Day\, June 17\n\n            On Chatham History Day\, June 17\, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. archaeologist Craig Chartier and his crew will continue digging test pits in the likely site of the 1664 homestead of William and Anne Nickerson on the campus of the Nickerson Family Association. At 2 p.m. Chartier\, who directs the Plymouth Archaeological Rediscovery Project\, will give a talk on his findings. Previous findings\, including a pipe that William (or Anne!) may have smoked are on display.\n\n            The Caleb Nickerson Homestead will be open for tours with our costumed docents. In addition\, Dick Noyes will demonstrate traditional woodworking techniques with hand tools.\n\n            This year's History Day theme is World War I\, which America entered 100 years ago in April 1917. Stop by the Nick House to read about local Nickersons who died in the war.\n\n            Join us at 1107 Orleans Road\, North Chatham\, for this fun day and then join us later in the summer as our heirloom gardens blossom. We will be open on Wednesday and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.\, June through September\, and for special events throughout the year.
