DESCRIPTION:Join us for a delightful evening of cabaret!  If you love the music of the late chanteuse Edith Piaf and her contemporaries\, mark your calendar for Wednesday\, August 14\, 2024 at 6 p.m. for a music by Pavia at the Unitarian Universalist Meeting House in Chatham. The mononymous singer Pavia\, accompanying herself on accordion\, will be performing "Songs for a Weary World" -- the music of Edith Piaf\, Kurt Weill\, Lotte Lenya\, and Ruth Etting\, a little Jacques Brel\, and a few songs that Pavia has written herself.\n\n\n\nPavia has been called "the Piaf of Provincetown" by The Banner. Her performances in intimate cabaret settings and large auditoriums alike have delighted her audiences. Pavia will take us through the 1920s\, '30s\, and '40s and from Berlin to Paris to Mexico capturing the authenticity and excitement of these bygone styles and eras.\n\n         \n\nBorn in Newark\, New Jersey\, the mostly self-taught musician has appeared in cafes\, concert halls\, restaurants\, theaters\, and arts centers in Massachusetts\, New York\, Vermont\, and Rhode Island. The recipient of glowing comments\, "she works her magic with the music she offers\," one reviewer wrote.\n\n         \n\nPavia's performances have included torch songs and love songs\, French programs\, all-Weill concerts and might include songs in French\, Spanish\, Italian\, German\, Yiddish\, Russian\, and classic oldies from the American repertoire. Her CDs "canciones" and "the chanteuse Pavia" are available at her concerts.\n\n         \n\nA free-will offering of $20 is suggested.
