Chatham Voters Approve Funding for Center for Active Living
Renovation and Expansion Project

 
CHATHAM, MA – At the Annual Town Meetingheld on Monday, May 11, 2026 Chatham voters approved the appropriation and transfer from available funds, the sum of $200,000 for the purposes of expanding and renovating of the existing Center for Active Living (CFAL) located at 193 Stony Hill Road.
 
The Town extends its sincere appreciation to the voters for their support and to the volunteers, board members, participants, and community members for their dedication throughout the planning process.  
 
As the project moves into the next phase, preparations are underway for the temporary relocation of the Council on Aging operations, services, and programs.  
 
The Center for Active Living will officially close to the public beginning June 15, 2026, for the duration of the construction project, which is anticipated to be completed in August 2027.
 
During this period, Council on Aging operations, services, and programs will be temporarily relocated to the Chatham Community Center, located at 702 Main Street.  
 
Temporary Relocation and Service Updates 

  • The Center for Active Living will be closed June 15th through June 19th while staff complete the relocation to the Community Center  
  • Voicemails and emails will be monitored periodically during the transition. In the event of an emergency, residents should call 911.  
  • Ryders Cove Respite, the Town’s Adult Supportive Day Program, will be closed on Tuesday, June 16th and Thursday June 18th.  
  • The respite program is scheduled to reopen at the Community Center on Tuesday, June 23rd  
  • Programs currently scheduled at the Community Center, including Chair Yoga, Full Body Fitness, and Indoor Walking, will continue as planned 
 
Additional updates and information regarding the renovation project and temporary operations will be shared with the community as they become available.
